Die Cut vs Kiss Cut Stickers — What’s the Difference?

Die Cut vs Kiss Cut Stickers — What’s the Difference?

If you’ve been exploring the world of stickers, you’ve probably seen the terms die cut and kiss cut. They might sound a little technical, but the difference is actually simple once you see it.

What Are Die Cut Stickers?

A die cut sticker is cut all the way through both the vinyl layer and the backing paper to match the exact shape of the design. What you get is the sticker in its final form, without any extra border.

Example:
If you order a heart-shaped sticker, the whole piece (sticker + backing) will be cut in the shape of a heart.

What Are Kiss Cut Stickers?

A kiss cut sticker is only cut through the top vinyl layer, while the backing paper stays intact. The sticker peels off easily, but there’s a border of backing paper around it. This allows for extra space around the design which can be plain or include branding, names, or other decorative elements.

Example:
If you order a star-shaped sticker as part of a sticker sheet, the star shape peels off, but the full sheet might be a rectangle. You can even have several small kiss cut stickers on one sheet.

Which One Should You Choose?

Your Need Go With
A single sticker that stands alone Die cut
A sheet of multiple stickers Kiss cut
Stickers that are easy to peel Kiss cut
A clean, shaped finish with no extra paper Die cut
Room to add a logo or notes around the design  Kiss cut

Whether you prefer die cut or kiss cut stickers, both offer a fun and creative way to express yourself. It just depends on how you plan to use them.
